News from Volunteer Maret
This week I joined the social workers of the Happy Watoto Home to home visits, to select the new children for Kikatiti.
The families send a letter, where they explain about their home situation. Together with the driver the social workers visit the family at home. They talk with the family about the child and the family history, and then they start testing the child with different attributes like a puzzle, photos and a Dutch Nijntje painting with different colours.
Today we took the seven selected children to the clinic, to test if they are HIV-positive. None of them were, so we placed them in Kikatiti Happy Watoto Home.
They were welcomed by the children with a song, and when they started playing together in the playroom, the parents left.
Next week we will continue the home visits and select another seven children.
